Man who defrauded Rs. 50 Mn from 500 people for Apple phones arrested

The officers of the Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau have arrested a person who defrauded over Rs. 50 million from around 500 people by promising them   Apple mobile phones at a low price. A 29 year old suspect is a resident of Madampitiya Road, Colombo 15. The suspect had been arrested by the Fraud Investigation Bureau in connection with a complaint received from two persons that the suspect had defrauded more than Rs.7.5 million from them promising mobile phones.

The Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau mentioned that this person has rented a building in Kollupitiya and had been engaged in this fraud by running a business in that location.

There are over 500 complaints against the individual in the Kollupitiya police alone. At the time of his arrest he had been on bail after being produced in courts related to one of those cases.

The police said his shop is now closed and he had defrauded these people within a period of one year.
