PC who foiled National Hospital robbery dies in accident

The trainee Police Constable attached to the State Intelligence Services (SIS), who foiled the Rs.7.9 million robbery at the National Hospital, died yesterday morning while receiving treatment at the National Hospital ICU following a road accident at Bambalapitiya on June 11, Police confirmed.

Sithum Alahapperuma (22) was critically injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a Defender at Thunmulla junction. He was admitted to the National Hospital, where he succumbed yesterday morning.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Polonnaruwa. The other officer who was also injured in the accident is said to be still receiving treatment in the ICU.
