Police to remove illegal election posters, cutouts

The Police launched a special programme yesterday (14) under the directive of the Acting IGP to nab all buses, trishaws and other vehicles carrying illegal cut-outs, posters and other election propaganda materials.

The Police Media Division said that with the General Election 2020 scheduled to be held on August 5, the display of posters, cut-outs, banners and the distribution of handbills had been banned.

Therefore, the Police Spokesman warned that roadblocks, mobile patrols and checkpoints have been established to check vehicles and in the event any vehicle is found with painted or fixed posters, cut-outs or banners pertaining to the election, legal action would be initiated against such persons in accordance with the election laws and the Motor Traffic laws.
