Committees appointed to discuss PC polls: Opposition

The Opposition appointed several committees to discuss measures to contest the forthcoming Provincial Council Elections as a coalition, UPFA Parliamentarian Keheliya Rambukwella said.

This measure was taken at a meeting presided by Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa at his Wijerama Place residence with the participation of all parties supporting the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, he said.

He added that the Opposition parties would act according to the decisions taken by these committees. Although they are seated as two different parties in Opposition ranks, they are acting in coalition, he said.

Parliamentarians Vasundeva Nanayakkara, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane and Douglas Devananda were among those who attended the meeting.
