The properties of a couple who were arrested with 1.225 kg of heroin and Rs.868,900 in cash two years ago at the Greenfield Housing Complex in Kirikiththa, Naranwala, Delgoda were confiscated.
The property belonging to the woman of the couple, valued at Rs. 20 million were confiscated and handed it over to the Mahara Divisional Secretary yesterday in the presence of the
suspect and officials of the Colombo Crimes Division. The property and money of the couple whose original residence was Serpentine Road, Colombo, were confiscated.
Accordingly, based on the fact the suspect had purchased the house with 12.5 perches of land located at the address Kirikiththa Weliviriya on 2021-01-06 for Rs. 5.7 million and she failed to prove how she earned the money for purchasing this and since she has engaged in illegal activities according to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, under Case No: HC / 01 / 2022 of the Gampaha High Court, this property has been assigned to the custody of G. S. I.Wimalasena, The Divisional Secretary, Mahara.
