Probe called for Police action inside Colombo University

The Education Ministry has requested the Home Affairs Ministry and the Police Department to take necessary action against the policemen who had entered the Colombo University premises during the recent protests, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha told Parliament yesterday replying to SJB MP Buddhika Pathirana.

The MP said measures should be taken to facilitate a discussion between the student unions and security forces before an unfortunate incident could happen.

He said there have been several slaying of university students in Sri Lanka in the past and that if such an unfortunate incident occurs again, it could lead to a catastrophe not only for one political party but for the whole country.
