CBSL Trade Unions clarify

Trade Unions of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) yesterday said that the news item appeared in the Daily News under the caption ‘Talking Point’ is false and they took part in the trade union action on March 1 while protecting the high standards of professionalism of the Central Bank.

The letter issued by the Employees Union of the Central Bank, Central Bank Executive Officers Association, Central Bank Staffers Association, Central Bank Jathika Podu Sevaka Sangamaya, Central Bank Employees Union and Central Bank Professionals Alliance under the hands of the respective presidents and secretaries said they engaged in a trade union action by staying away from their duties to demand the Government to amend the new tax policy.

They said that the public has been notified in advance that the public services provided by various departments of the Bank may be disrupted due to the trade union action.
