Applications called for A/L answer script marking again

The Examinations Department has called for applications once again from teachers for the evaluation of Advanced Level answer scripts. Permission had been granted at the special Cabinet meeting chaired by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, on Wednesday (1) to double the allowances paid to teachers for evaluating the A/L answer papers.

Accordingly, the Examinations Department has taken steps to call for applications from teachers for the marking of A/L scripts.

Permission was granted at the special Cabinet Meeting held to increase the allowance of Rs.900 given to teachers for evaluation of answer papers to Rs.2,000 and to double the allowances of overall evaluation of university teachers through the Cabinet paper.

About 15,000 teachers have applied for marking A/L answer papers but inadequate number of teachers have applied for evaluating subjects such as Chemistry, Physics and Combined Mathematics.

A spokesman for the Examinations Department said they hope that, subsequent to the increase in payment of daily allowances more teachers will apply for marking of examination papers.
