Illegally imported pesticides

Two suspects have been arrested by the Divulapitiya Police along with pesticides that were illegally imported into Sri Lanka, according to the Divaulapitiya Police.

Raid has been carried out based on the information received by the Divulapitiya Police.

A 40-year-old resident of Moragollagama was arrested while transporting eight bags containing 2000 packets of Ammonium salt of glyphosate agrochemicals and 200 packets of Emamectin benzoate in a van without the approval of the pesticide registrar and without duty.

He was released on bail of Rupees 200,000 after being presented to the court.

According to information received from him during investigations, a 50-year-old man was arrested with 670 packets of Ammonium salt of glyphosate found in a house in Kobeigane.

This person is scheduled to appear in court today (24 February).
