A heartbroken Sri Lankan husband residing in Italy committed suicide by hanging himself after his wife rejected his repeated requests to come to Italy.
The deceased is a 26 year old man, a resident of Nattandiya. The brother of the deceased giving a testimony into the death said he and his brother was working in Italy and on January 23 a friend had called him and said a video is circulating on social media about his brother’s suicide. The 26 year old wife of the deceased a resident of Bibiladeniya said she got married to the deceased about five months back and he had been repeatedly telling her to come to Italy, but she had refused. She said that her husband had told her several times that he would commit suicide.
Meanwhile the wife had refused to accept the body and it had been handed over to the deceased’s brother for the final rights.
