The Election Commission and political parties yesterday reached an agreement on the maximum amount which could be spent by individual candidates and parties at the Local Government election.
According to the agreement reached during the meeting between the Election Commission and Party Secretaries a candidate can spend a maximum of Rs.15 per voter and the party can provide only 60 percent of the said amount. The Party Secretaries said all Parties agreed on it. Election Commission Chairman of Nimal Punchihewa has told the political party representatives that the Local Government election will be held as announced by him.
