UP Crime: A doctor in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri was arrested allegedly for killing his wife and storing the dead body in a box, sending it to the hospital where he worked.
The dead body was later taken to Grahmukteshwar town through an ambulance where it was creamated. Doctor Ashutosh Awasthi has been accused of beating his wife Vandana who was also a Doctor by profession, to death.
The accused then filed a missing complaint of his wife.
Dr. Ashutosh Awasthi was married in February 2014 to Dr. Vandana Shukla, a resident of Gonda district. Both Ashutosh and Vandana were BMS doctors, and they opened a hospital named Gauri on Sitapur Road from Lakhimpur City.
The couple was practicing together in the hospital. In March 2018, Dr. Ashutosh Awasthi’s spinal cord was crushed after falling from the roof, causing multiple problems to his body.
Then there was a dispute between husband and wife every day.

In 2020, Dr. Vandana gave birth to twins through a test tube. Despite this, the dispute between the couple kept increasing. There was a fight between the two in the coming days.
On November 26, 2022, at around 5 p.m., a fight started between Dr. Ashutosh and his wife, Dr. Vandana Shukla. During this, some heavy object hit Dr. Vandana’s head, due to which she died on the spot.
Ashutosh informed about his wife’s death to his father Gauri Shankar Awasthi, only then father and son together planned to dispose of Vandana’s dead body. Keeping Vandana’s body in a big box, he took it in a pickup van to his hospital outside the city.
After this, the dead body was taken to Garhmukteshwar, 284 km away, through an ambulance. Where he cut a slip of Rs 1300 and performed the last rites on the river bank. Then Vandana’s missing report was lodged at the father-son police station.
The police started the investigation and checked the phone of the deceased, Vandana, and the CCTV of the area. Apart from this, after inquiring with the people of the neighborhood, it was found that a pickup van had come to Ashutosh Awasthi’s house on the night of November 26.

While investigating, the police reached Ashutosh’s hospital, where they learned that an ambulance had arrived on November 27.
A dead body was taken out of the hospital. When the police took the statement of the ambulance driver from the hospital, some suspicion deepened about Dr. Ashutosh, and the police took him into custody.
After strict questioning, the whole story of the murder came out in the open. The police arrested the father-son duo in a conspiracy to murder and dispose of the dead body.
The police said that the accused doctor has confessed to his crime. The police have arrested the father-son duo in connection with the conspiracy to murder and dispose of the dead body, and the matter is being investigated.
