This year’s Kandy Esala Perahera Festival commenced yesterday with the traditional “Kap” planting ceremony at the four Maha Devalayas.
The “Kap” planting ceremony was held at the four great temples of Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama and Pattini at the auspicious time of 3.03 am on July 29 under the patronage of Basnayake Nilames.
Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara also participated in the Kap planting ceremony of the Vishnu Maha Devalaya.
