JVP students’ union threatens to capture Parliament to end deal politics

by Saman Indrajith

One of the leading forces of the Galle Face Aragalaya, the JVP-led Socialist Students’ Union yesterday warned that people would march on Parliament soon if politicos continued to stay by striking political deals.

Addressing the media at the JVP headquarters, in Pelawatte, SSU National Organiser Eranga Gunasekera said the struggle that commenced some 90 plus days back was nearing completion. “People need an assurance that this would end, paving the way for a system of governance for the people, not for the benefit of ruling clan members.

Both the President and the Prime Minister had to resign, he said, warning that the people will take over Parliament if the government did not heed their voice.
