Galle Face protestors plan several protests today and tomorrow

The Galle Face protestors have decided to stage several protests today (19) and tomorrow (20) urging Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe to resign from his position.

The protesters requested the public also to conduct protests campaigns in their villages and towns parallel with the Galle Face protests.

Meanwhile, the ‘Sarva Pakshika Aragalakaruwo’ movement urges the Presidential Candidates of tomorrow’s election to publicize their short-term practical programs for fulfilling the aspirations of the public with immediate effect.

Issuing a press release, the movement yesterday said the people of this country, which is suffering from political, economic and social crises are demanding a system change at this critical juncture and they have no trust on the individual characters.

The struggle of the common man which achieved a historical victory by ousting an unsuccessful leader has now come to a decisive juncture, they said.

While expressing their displeasure over the behaviour of the political parties and the public representatives in the parliament relating to the election of the next President, the ‘Sarva Pakshika Aragalakaruwo’ said all anti-Rajapaksa factions should get together regardless of the other divisions and dedicate to elect a President and a government with the consensus of all parties to fulfill the aspirations of the general public.

They said it is the expectation of the public that all Parliamentarians would cast their vote at this election with a good understanding about the accountability they have to the public.

They also said that as active leaders of the struggle of the public, the moment thoroughly condemns the arbitrary and cowardly acts being implemented by limiting the fundamental rights assured by the Constitution to suppress the protest of the public.
