Investigations into group for threatening Police near filling station

Polonnaruwa Police are conducting investigations to arrest several individuals who are said to have threatened a group of Police officers near a filling station in Kaduruwela on July 13.

According to Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa, these individuals had threatened several Police officers including the OIC of the Siripura Police who had come to the filling station in a Police jeep with the fuel tank of a motorbike to obtain fuel.

A Police Sergeant of the Siripura Police had lodged a complaint about this incident with the Polonnaruwa Police on Sunday (17).

“The individuals had threatened the Police officers accusing them of hoarding and selling fuel at higher prices,” the Spokesman said.

He also said that the individuals had stated that they were not going to attack the officers as they were wearing uniforms.

“Polonnaruwa Police are conducting investigations into the incident based on the video clips relating to the incident posted on social media and other electronic media,” the spokesman further said.
