The Southern Express Traffic Police yesterday arrested a man for driving a luxury car at a speed of 196 Kilometers Per Hour (KMPH) on the Southern Expressway.
Police said that the suspect was driving a Benz type car and speedometers of the Police officers had detected a speed of 196 km per hour.
The car was travelling from Matara to Colombo and the driver was apprehended on his way out of the Kerawalapitiya Interchange on the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway.
The Police had earlier informed all the Interchanges on the Colombo side to apprehend the driver.
The arrested suspect is a resident of Beruwala will be produced before the Matugama Magistrate’s Court.
