PM Modi flies drone during inauguration of two-day 'Bharat Drone Mahotsav'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday tried his hand at flying a drone during the inauguration of the two-day India Drone Festival 2022 at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. Here he interacted with farmer drone pilots and witnessed the drone demonstration in the open at the Drone Exhibition Centre.

Earlier on Friday, inaugurating the event, PM Modi termed drones as a ‘game-changer’ in the agriculture sector and pointed to the need for drones to improve last-mile healthcare.

The Prime Minister also said, in the last few months, the government has removed most of the restrictions on the use of drones. PM Modi said, “We are also launching the PLI scheme which will help us to build a drone manufacturing ecosystem in India.”

In this event, PM Modi invited investors and experts from all over the world to come to India and invest in drone technology. “I request all startups and youth to work towards developing solutions for better development outcomes using drones,” he said.

The India Drone Festival is a two-day event and is being held on 27-28 May. More than 1600 delegates including government officials, foreign diplomats, armed forces, central armed police forces, PSUs, private companies and drone startups will participate in the festival.

More than 70 exhibitors have displayed various use cases of drones in the exhibition. The festival will also see a virtual award of Drone Pilot Certificate, Product Launch, Panel Discussion, Flight Demonstration, Demonstration of Made in India Drone Taxi Prototype, etc.
