JVP to meet IGP over recent allegations

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said representatives of his Party will meet the Inspector General of Police (IGP) today to discuss the allegations that members of the JVP were among those arrested in connection with the recent violence.

Addressing an event in Hambantota, Dissanayake denied allegations that JVP supporters were involved in the recent violent incidents.

He stated that the current economic crisis in the country is due to the economic policies of the present government as well as the economic policies that have been in place in the country for a long time.

Dissanayake said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe would have to resign if he did not get the support of the current government team in Parliament.
