Dehradun:

Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a major setback in Uttarakhand. Colonel Ajay Kothiyal, who was the CM face in the state, left the party and joined BJP. Kothiyal joined BJP in the presence of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami in Dehradun on Tuesday. Around 150 of his supporters have joined BJP along with Kothiyal. Colonel Ajay Kothiyal had resigned from the membership of Aam Aadmi Party on 18 May.

Col Kothiyal joined BJP in the presence of senior leaders including CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, State President Madan Kaushik in the function organised at BJP State Office on Tuesday evening. He said that joining AAP was his biggest mistake. After joining the party, Kothiyal said that he will work to take the ideology of BJP to the masses. Ajay Kothiyal had contested the assembly elections from Gangotri seat in February 2022 and lost.

Colonel Ajay Kothiyal has been in the Indian Army. He had joined the Aam Aadmi Party on April 19 last year after taking voluntary retirement. But now he got disillusioned with the Aam Aadmi Party. The Aam Aadmi Party had made Kothiyal the face of the Chief Minister in the assembly elections.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Aam Aadmi Party will be wiped out in the entire country. It has started from Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. On Col Kothiyal joining BJP, CM Dhami said that the ex-servicemen of the state have been respected by the Colonel’s joining. Dhami says that the Uttarakhand government is committed to solving the problems of ex-servicemen.
