The Delhi Police has started investigating 30 phone numbers in relation to the Jahangirpuri violence, which is expected to bring out the truth behind the incident. These 30 phone number is linked to several of those accused in the Jahangirpuri violence, including Ansar and Sonu Chikna.
The team from the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police is also engaged in scouting the call detail records of Ansar, Aslam and Sonu Chikna.
Along with this, Ghulam Rasool alias Gulli, who provided the pistol used in the violence, has told in the interrogation that he had given weapons to minor children on the day of the incident.
During interrogation, Gulli said that he had given a pistol to Sonu alias Chikna alias Yusuf, who opened fire, for ten thousand rupees. Along with this, Aslam and Sonu alias Chikna told that a person named Gulli had given them a pistol.
According to sources, on the basis of videos, photos, CCTV footage and local inputs related to Jahangirpuri violence, the Crime Branch has identified about 300 miscreants and now raids are being conducted to arrest them.
It has come to the fore in the investigation that when the third procession was going out, at that time Ansar had an argument with the people involved in the procession. Soon after this stone-pelting started on the Shobha Yatra. At the time of Jahangirpuri violence, there were about five thousand people from both sides on the spot.
Another accused arrested
The DCP said that Rajan alias Rahul, who is a resident of Jahangirpuri, has been caught. He is a history sheeter from the North West District of Delhi. The accused had supplied illegal arms on a large scale in Jahangirpuri. There are 67 cases registered against him.
When an attempt was made to track down the accused, he opened fire on the police leading to an encounter. The accused has been shot by the police. Illegal weapons have been recovered from the accused.
According to the Delhi Police, the accused was intercepted in Sector 36 Rohini of Shahbad Dairy police station. He was going towards Bawana. During this, the encounter took place.
