constituency in the Howrah district of West Bengal culminated in a firing incident on Tuesday.

The unrest over the water pipeline at the Sampuipara area of Belur town saw tension prevail over the entire area.

On Tuesday afternoon, a pipeline was being laid to deliver government drinking water to residential houses in the Sapuipara Poll No. 12 area of Domjur assembly constituency.

According to the locals, a man named Ramesh Chowdhury from the area arrived at the spot in a drunken state at that time. He started demanding that his house should be connected first. When other residents of the area protested, Ramesh allegedly pulled out a firearm and fired two shots at the ground and then into the air, local sources claimed.
