The members of the Wewagoda Farmers’ Movement urge authorities to renovate the Magamaaragama Tank in the Wellawaya DS area. The tank is overgrown with aquatic and invasive plants.
They said that 100 acres of paddy fields have been abandoned since the tank has been overgrown with invasive plants.
The tank was renovated at a cost of Rs. 2 million a few years ago but it has not been up to the standards, they said.
