Chaminda and Shafeek steer Colombo Masters to a five wicket win

Colombo Masters led by their dynamic 65 year old all rounder, Rohan Raj Perera an old Kingswoodian, overcame Richmond legends by five wickets in a 35 over Cricket encounter, played at the Bloomfield ground recently.

Batting first, Richmond legends lost three early wickets for 13 runs, but Ex National Cricketer, Champaka Ramanayake with a gallant batting performance of 31 runs together with Nishantha Mendis put up a solid stand of 68 runs for the 4th wicket and with Colombo Masters Skipper Rohan Raj Perera coming into the attack, captured these two prize wickets also Amal Karunaratne claiming 3 and, Pujitha Gunawardena two wickets bundled them out for 130 runs in just 33 overs.

Colombo Masters, chasing this modest total got off to a good start with their openers Palitha Liyanage 22 and Suranjith Dharmasena 23, former Tamil Union Cricketer, put them in a commanding position and with the dismissal of these two batsman, three more wickets falling at regular intervals, placed them at 5 down at 75 runs, but Chaminda Rajapakse with a gutty 38 not out ( 4 x 3 ), ( 6 x 2 ) and Shafeek Raheem 15 not out ( 4 X 2 ) the pair adding 56 runs for the 6th wicket took Colombo Masters to a comfortable win with 10 overs to spare.
