Police mobile patrols to monitor quarantine rule breakers

The Police stated that constant mobile patrols would continue to monitor individuals who do not adhere to quarantine rules and regulations in a bid to contain COVID-19.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that Officers In Charge of Police stations have been instructed to conduct motorcycle patrols and foot patrols in the respective areas.He further stated that police officers are deployed in uniforms and in civilian clothes to conduct surveillance operations and monitor the situation in their respective areas.

In addition to that, any New Year related activities and functions must be conducted under the approval of Medical Health officers and the Police.

If any guest houses or halls are taken for functions, adherence to health guidelines is a must.

The Police urged the public to strictly adhere to health guidelines, maintaining social distance, wearing face masks and washing hands to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

He also noted if any person is found breaking quarantine rules and regulations the Police are compelled to take legal action against them.
