School teacher attacked in Jaffna

An unidentified gang wielding swords assaulted and wounded a male teacher in Jaffna on Thursday (4) evening.

The injured teacher was admitted to the Tellippalai hospital in Jaffna following the incident which occurred at Mallakam area about 9.30 pm.

The Police said that according to the evidence a group of five persons who arrived on motorcycles had slashed the teacher.

The reason for the assault is not known. He teaches Health and Physical Education at a school in Jaffna. The Tellippalai Police are investigating.
