Launch of the mobile programme

An islandwide campaign initiated by the Transport Ministry to raise awareness among the public to minimise road accidents caused by motorcyclists was launched at the Galle Face Green on Monday. According to statistics, motorcyclists are responsible for the highest number of road accidents in Sri Lanka.Nursing officer Pushpa Ramyani Zoysa educating a motorcyclist on road safety and the importance of following road rules to prevent accidents. It has been identified that not wearing helmets, high speed and drunk driving are common reasons for motorcycle accidents.
