Fuel prices will be reduced within the first 24 hours of the formation of a government after winning the General Election and all ineffective wasteful projects initiated by the government will be abolished, Leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Sajitha Premadasa said.
He was speaking at a meeting at the Riverdale Hotel in Katugastota in support of Senkadagala electoral organiser Thilina Bandara Tennakoon. He said that the government is acting without any financial responsibility and has printed billions of rupees in the recent past. “The people who robbed the Central Bank in broad daylight are asking us how Rs.20, 000 could be given to each family and proper answers to their questions will be given after the General Election,” he said.
Sajith pointed out that his father Ranasinghe Premadasas had provided school uniforms and lunch to 4.3 million schoolchildren during the two wars in this country and that he had started garment factories, launched ‘Janasaviya’ and created villages. Premadasa said that he had done that when some asked where the money came from.
