A 15-year-old student fell suddenly after a brief illness, while he was playing along with his friends in his school playgrounds. Police said he died on admission to the Dambulla Base Hospital.
Hospital sources said the student may have died of a heart attack. The student was identified as Prabath Madusanka of Pelvehera, studying in Grade 9 of the Dambulugama Weera Mohan Jatamaha Vidyalaya.
The postmortem was to be held at the Dambulla Base Hospital on Tuesday.
Dambulla police are investigating.
