Nabbed with heroin
A man was arrested with 10.2 grams of heroin during a raid conducted in the Kotahena Police Division by the Western Province Anti Corruption Unit.
The 49-year-old suspect was identified as Mohamed Sadik Mohammad Asrap, a resident of Colombo 12.
He was produced before the Maligakande Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Meanwhile, another youth was nabbed with five grams of heroin in the Kandawala area in Mount Lavinia Police Division.
The raid was conducted by the Mount Lavinia Anti Corruption Unit and the suspect was handed over to the Mount Lavinia Police.
The suspect was identified as Weera Sangilige Kushan Fernando (21), a resident of Ratmalana.
He was produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court yesterday and Mount Lavinia Police are continuing investigations.
Brothel raided
Two suspects were arrested during a raid on a brothel which operated under the guise of an ayurvedic massage centre in Seeduwa.
The raid was conducted by the Peliyagoda Western Province North Divisional Crime Division on a search warrant obtained from the Negombo Magistrate’s Court recently and the suspects were handed over to the Seeduwa Police.
The suspects taken into custody were between 33 and 37 years of age and are residents of Delgoda and Raddolugama.
They were produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Murder in Thalathuoya
A man was killed with a sharp tool near the three-wheeler park in Gallida in the Thalathuoya Police Division.
The deceased was identified as Kethikenella Gedara Weerasuriya (38), a resident of Mailapitiya.
Two suspects were arrested regarding the incident and police said that he was killed over a personal dispute.
The magisterial inquiry was carried out by the Kandy Magistrate and the body is at the Marassana Hospital. Thalathuoya Police are investigating.
