The residents of Dematavelketiya urge authorities to launch a project to improve the condition of the road in their locality as it is currently dilapidated.
A three-kilometre long road in Viyaluva, off a minor road from Kandaketiya to Galauda, is of importance to the farming community of about 60 families, according to figures. While a project to build a road to Dematavelketiya was planned about 20 years ago, project work has not begun yet, residents said.
Meanwhile, the Daha-Namaye Kanuva Bridge in Viyaluva too needs repairs.
The road in Karametiya on the Badulla-Mahiyanganaya road has been badly damaged and a part of it has been eroded, causing problems for road users.
