The Court of Appeal today overruled the preliminary objections raised by Northern Province former Chief Minister and former Supreme Court Justice C.V Wigneswaran and two others regarding a contempt of court action filed against him by Provincial Council Minister B.Denishwaran.
Accordingly, contempt of court action against former Chief Minister Wigneswaran and two others will be proceeded in Court of Appeal.
The Court of Appeal Justice Janak de Silva and Justice Kumuduni Wickremesinghe made this order as a part of contempt of court proceedings filed by B.Denishwaran alleging that former Northern Province Chief Minister C.V Wigneswaran and Ananthi Sasitharan and K.Sivanesan have willfully acted in contempt of the Court of Appeal order since they prevented him from acting as a Minister of the Northern Province.
