The paddy harvest exceeds over 300,000 metric tons

The total paddy harvest of the Maha Season of this year exceeds 30,000 metric tons, says the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute.

Over 8,000 hectares of paddy lands have been cultivated for Maha kannaya and 27,000 acres of paddy fields have been cultivated for the Maha season.

 Training Institute has stated, that around 99% of the paddy cultivation has been cultivated during the Maha season.

Sri Lanka's highest paddy harvest in 2014 was reported at 28.5 million metric tons.

The Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute said that there would be a significant harvest during the Maha season due to the favorable weather conditions prevailing in the country.
