SL's first hybrid power plant to be launched today

 

Sri Lanka’s first hybrid power plant will be unveiled by Power and Renewable Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya today (10), in Eluvathivu Island, Jaffna.

The new power plant is capable of generating electricity using wind power, solar power, and diesel with 60 KW capacity.

It is built with the financial assistance of the Asian Development Bank and the Ceylon Electricity Board with the intention of promoting green energy at a cost of Rs. 187 million.

A unit generated by this power plant will approximately cost Rs. 9.14.
