Ways and means of eliminating corruption dominate talks between Speaker and top S. Korean official

<p><img src="" alt="Featured Image"></p><p><!-- wp:html --><p>Vice Chairperson and Secretary General of South Korea's Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) Chung Seung-yun has offered to introduce the South Korean anti-corruption system here to help Sri Lanka to tackle the problem.</p>
<p>According to a statement issued by the Parliament, the offer was made on Tuesday (21) when a delegation led by Chung Seung-yun met Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena in Parliament.</p>
<p>Commending the recent enactment of the Anti-Corruption Act passed in Sri Lanka last year, the visiting official declared his readiness to support the introduction of the Integrity Assessment System for government institutions in Sri Lanka. The official has assured that the system would strengthen efforts to prevent bribery and corruption.</p>
<p>The statement quoted Speaker Abeywardena as having told the visiting delegation that the Anti-Corruption Act passed allowed the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption independently. The speaker also said that he intended to work together with other supporting countries to curb corruption.</p>
<p>The two sides also paid attention to anti-corruption law in South Korea and the nature of investigations.</p>
<p>Acting Secretary General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne and Assistant Secretary General Hansa Abeyratne were present in this meeting. Also, South Korea's Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Director Lee Byum Seok, Deputy Director Moon Jongpil, Assistant Director Ms. Lee Ga Yeon, Additional Director General of Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption Ms. M.R.Y.K. Uduwela and Assistant Director General Ms. W.M.D.T.
