Zomato delivery boy assault: Nanded Police takes action ‘only’ after video gets viral

Mumbai: The Nanded Police came into action in a case related to an alleged assault of a Zomato delivery boy ‘only’ after the video of the incident caught the attention of everyone on the internet.

As per the victim, he had filed a complaint at the police station soon after the incident took place at Bajrang Nagar in Maharashtra’s Nanded district on February 7. The video was captured in a CCTV camera.

The delivery person Arman Tamboli told the media that police would contact him but it was after five days when he heard from them. He said the police contacted him only after the video went viral on social media.

Superintendent of police Shrikrishna Kokate said the charges were serious and they will definitely look into the case and ensure appropriate action, quoted TOI.

Meanwhile, another police official informed that one of the accused was arrested already while a search operation for others has been launched.

In the video, it can be seen that Tamboli was sitting on a bike while looking at his phone. In the meantime, a group of four men reached the spot and started assaulting him with stones, sticks and bricks. The miscreants also put colour on his beard and tilak on his forehead.

One of them even picked up a wooden log to hit it on his back.
