St. Benedict’s amass 298 against Wesley

St. Benedict’s College amassed a formidable 298 for seven on the opening day of the third Inter-School Big Match against traditional rivals Wesley College for the Rev. Bro. James Cartman Cup at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo yesterday. The Bens, who were put into bat, went on a scoring spree with the openers Viduneth Wilson (73) and Sheron Kannangara (68) adding a record 125 runs from 26 overs to lay the platform for a big total.

Thereafter, Sharujan Shanmuganathan anchored the innings and went on to score an unbeaten 98 from 122 deliveries inclusive of one six and seven boundaries.

However, Wesley made a bold reply as they reached 112 for three with Uvin Perera stroking an unbeaten 55 with the help of eight boundaries.
