Sri Lankan dies, another missing in Qatar building collapse

One Sri Lankan has lost his life and another Sri Lankan has gone missing in an accident that occurred due to the collapse of a four-storied building on Thursday in Al-Mansoora area of Bin Durham, Qatar.

The deceased was identified as 56-year-old Nissanka Silva, whose body was identified by his son, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment said.

A 60-year-old man named Abdul Razzaq Jameel is also missing due to the accident, his son working in Qatar informed the embassy officials.

They had gone for work in Qatar and were residing in the building which collapsed.

Qatar Embassy’s labour department officers have gone to the area to find out more about this accident, the SLBFE further said.

According to embassy sources, the rescue teams have managed to save the members of twelve families from the debris of the collapsed building, and nine injured people are currently being treated at the Hamad General Hospital in Qatar.
