Special programme for Muslim Govt. officials during Ramadan

The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government has taken steps to prepare a special programme so that Muslim Government officials can engage in prayers and religious rituals during the upcoming Ramadan season.

“The Ramadan season is scheduled to begin on March 23 and end on April 21, and during that period, special arrangements have been made so that the Muslim officials can engage in their prayers without any hassle,” Ministry Secretary Neil Bandara Hapuhinna said.

The Secretary also said that the related State Administrative Circular has been issued to all Ministerial Secretaries, Provincial Chief Secretaries, Department Heads, State Corporation and Institutional Board Chiefs.

According to this Circular, work schedules can be arranged so that all Muslim civil servants can perform religious rituals during that period and special holidays can be approved when needed.
