Award winning film ‘Sirimedura’ will be telecast on Rupavahini today at 9.30 p.m. with a 30 minutes discussion on the film. The film released in 1989 was directed by Veteran Filmmaker Parakrama Niriella and Produced by Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena. The cast included veteran actor Ravindra Randeniya and actress Anoja Weerasinghe.
The film bagged eight awards at the 18th Sarasaviya film awards organized by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited.Minister Dr. Gunawardena received an award for the best film at the Sarasaviya awards while film director Parakrama Niriella receiving an award for the Best Director.
Actress Anoja Weerasinghe and Actor Ravindra Randeniya bagged the awards for best actress and actor at the films awards.Mastero Premasiri Khemadasa was the best music director while artistes Lucian Bulathsinhala and Amarasiri Peiris were the best lyricist and play back singer at the awards ceremony.
