Samsung launches new kind of external SSD card

New Delhi: Samsung just introduced the T7 Shield, a new external SSD. The new SSD is almost the size of an ATM card and has an aluminium shell. It has 4TB of storage and is ideal for creative individuals, working professionals, or those who are constantly on the go.

Samsung’s T7 Shield portable SSD is also water and dust resistant to IP65 standards.

It features a USB 3.2 Gen2 interface with read and write rates of up to 1,050 MB/s and 1,000 MB/s, respectively. Samsung claims that the new SSD is “9.5 times faster than external hard disc drives,” making it ideal for individuals who frequently transfer huge files.

The portable ATM-sized SSD also has IP 65 water and dust protection and can withstand shocks from drops of up to 3 metres. The 4TB T7 Shield portable solid-state drive weighs only 98 grammes and features AES 256-bit hardware encryption with Samsung Magician Software. It can function in temperatures ranging from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and has a three-year warranty.

The T7 Shield portable SSD is available in three colours: blue, red, and grey and costs Rs 30,000. It is available from popular online platforms, Samsung retail locations, top consumer electronics stores, and the official Samsung online store.

A solid-state drive (SSD) is a solid-state storage device that employs integrated circuit assemblies to store data persistently, generally using flash memory and serving as secondary storage in the computer storage hierarchy.

It is also known as a semiconductor storage device, a solid-state device, or a solid-state disc, even though SSDs lack the physical spinning discs and movable read-write heads found in hard disc drives (HDDs) and floppy discs. SSDs provide a high level of intrinsic parallelism for data processing.

Samsung has consistently ranked among the top electrical device manufacturers in the world. It is also a very technologically minded corporation that is constantly improving its technology infrastructure and acquisition. This new avatar of SSD cards is merely another feather in its cap!
