New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that the energy crisis that occurred during the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict drew the world’s attention towards the importance of becoming self-reliant in the energy sector.
It does not matter how big and developed a nation is, if it is self-reliant for energy needs, then, there will be difficulties in development.
Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony and commercial coal mine auction organised by the ministry of coal, Defence Minister said India is the fifth largest economy and among the world’s fastest-growing economies.
Highlighting the issue of the energy crisis that the world has faced because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Singh said that it is necessary to take steps towards the energy security of the nation.
Defence Minister said coal has a crucial role to play to make country self-reliant in the energy sector.
