Rs. 648 Mn spent for 864 housing units under ‘Housing for All’ project

Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that 864 housing units will be built this year spending Rs.648 million under the ‘Housing for All’ project.

He also said around 760 houses are scheduled to be completed at a cost of Rs.578 million under the Indian Aid Housing Programme. The programme is expected to be completed this year after the relevant funds are received from the Indian High Commission.

In addition, Rs.76 million has been allocated through the Treasury to improve infrastructure development of the house dwellers. National Housing Development Authority sources said 560 semi-luxury housing units are to be constructed.

The Treasury has granted Rs.3,750 million to National Housing Development Authority to complete the work of the unfinished projects which were launched in the previous years.

Minister Ranatunga advised the National Housing Development Authority to complete the construction of two projects including ‘A house for you-A future for the country’ and ‘Mihindu Nivahana,’ utilising these funds.
