A police constable of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB), who rode a motorcycle despite the signals of the traffic police officers to stop, was involved in
an accident and was admitted to the police hospital. The accident happened day before on Tuesday morning (28) at Maitland Place junction, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07.
Officials of the traffic division had switched off the electric traffic signals at this place and had been engaged in duty of directing the vehicles. A motorcycle which was travelling fast on the road, despite signals of traffic police officers had continued on. The Cinnamon Gardens Police said that the motorcycle collided with a motorcycle that was obeying the traffic signals of the police. The riders of both the motorcycles were injured and hospitalised. A senior police officer said that legal action will be taken against the Police Narcotics Bureau officer who rode the motorcycle despite the police signal to stop.
