A Police Constable who is said to have assaulted a Woman Police Constable on duty at a musical show in Kadawatha has been interdicted by the
Kelaniya Division ASP with effect from yesterday.
As reported, the incident occurred on February 25, when the suspected officer D.N.D.Athukorala attached to the Mahabage Police Station had participated in the musical show in civvies as a viewer without the permission of any senior officer during his duty hours. While enjoying the show, he had entered into an argument with a WPC attached to the Biyagama Police Station who had been called on special duty for the musical show and had attacked her with a helmet. He had also stolen the mobile phone of the WPC, it was reported.
