Over 100,000 spoiled eggs found thrown in Reserve

Consumer Affairs Authority officials of the Puttalam district and the Mahakumbukkadawala police yesterday said that around 100,000 eggs had been taken to the Walpaluva Reserve and destroyed them on Saturday.

It has been revealed from the initial investigations by the officers of the Consumer Affairs Authority that the stock of eggs may have been brought to the reserve a week before due to spoilage or some other reason.

It is said that wild elephants are constantly roaming in the Reserve and there are very few people who travel to this area. Despite this, a group of people who were travelling on the road near the reserve said that went to inspect the area following the foul smell. They have seen how the huge egg stock had been destroyed

The CAA officers came to the relevant place for inspection and said that this egg stock was destroyed by a businessman who runs a large-scale poultry farm for some reason.
