Octogenarian wins 100 metres race

An 80-year-old woman has won first place in the 100 metres race at the Alumni Sports Day at Victoria College, Jaffna beating several competitors in their forties and fifties.

The 100 metres final saw six women under 45 years of age and four women under 55 years taking part and ultimately the winner was the oldest competitor in the race. The winner 80-year-old S. Muttani Punitawathi who hails from Jaffna is a retired government clerk.

In addition to the prize that was planned for this competition, she took away several other prizes awarded by the organizing committee of the school and also received many other cash prizes from those who came to watch the competition.
