The Government’s attention has been focused on not recruiting those who engaged in anti-Government and illegal activities for Government Service.
A top-ranking Government official said that this decision has been taken as it has become a serious problem when people with a subversive mentality join the Government institutions and Corporations.
It has been observed that people who have been promoted to high positions in the Public Service have also been involved in covert activities against Government affairs.
Commenting on the behaviour of some Government officials during the last struggle (Aragalaya), a retired high ranking public official said that if the Government does not pay attention to this issue, no Government will be able to rule the country in the future.
Henceforth, the Government will focus on obtaining Police reports during recruitment and promotion in Government, Public Corporations and State Banks.
