MG Comet EV to be launched in India in April: Price, features and much more

New Delhi: MG Motors is about to launch its electric car Comet EV in India in April, 2023. The company has recently revealed the official images of its 2-door electric car. The length of this electric car is only 2.9 meters, which is even smaller than Tata Nano. The new model is expected to cost around Rs. 10 lakh ex-showroom in India. This car will compete with Tata Tiago EV and Citroën E C3 in the Indian market.

Look

The MG Comet electric car has been designed by the company on its new Global Small Electric Vehicles (GSEV) platform. It is a compact electric car with short length and boxy stance. This EV is very similar to the Wuling Air EV sold in Indonesia. Its charging port is given at the very front inside MG’s branding logo, as is also seen in the company’s ZS EV. The front of the car gets dual, vertically stacked headlamps, LED daytime running lamps with integrated turn indicators and a dual-tone front bumper. There is a chrome strip and an LED light bar below the windscreen. The company has released several pictures of the Comet, in which the dual-tone color theme has also been seen.

Exterior design

Large rear quarter glass has been given in the cabin of MG Comet EV, due to which there is no problem of ventilation. This small car will get 12 inch small steel wheels with wheel covers. At the rear, there will be a flat rear bumper with vertically stacked tail-lamps, a high-mounted stop lamp and the license plate housing.

How will be the interior

Despite being small in size, a lot of features will be seen in this car. Also, its cabin will be quite comfortable. It will get to see features and interior layout like Air EV. Its dashboard will be layered in a dual-tone shade. It also gets sleek air-con vents, automatic air conditioning, connected car tech, steering mounted controls, multi-functional two-spoke steering wheel, keyless entry, touchscreen infotainment unit, dual 10.25-inch displays, a rotary for AC controls. Features like knobs and digital instrument console will be seen.

How will the powertrain

The MG Comet EV will get battery pack options similar to the Wuling Air EV. It is expected to get a 17.3kWh battery pack in the entry-level variant and a 26.7kWh battery pack in the high-end variant, which are expected to get an estimated range of 200kms and 300kms respectively.

Who will compete

This car will compete with Tata Tiago EV and Citroën E C3 in the market.
