Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma seeks BJP’s support, JP Nadda assures to extend

Meghalaya election result update: National People’s Party (NPP) President and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday called senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking BJP’s support to form Government. After this BJP national president, JP Nadda announced to give support to the incumbent NPP. Assam Chief Minister and party conveyer to Northeast, Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

In a tweet, Assam’s Chief Minister said that the BJP will tender its support to the National People’s party in Meghalaya.

He wrote in a tweet, “Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr Konrad K. Sangma called up Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah and sought his support and blessings in forming the new government.” 

“BJP National President Shri JP Nadda ji has advised BJP, Meghalaya State Unit to support the NPP in forming the next government in Meghalaya,” Sarma further wrote.

The National People’s Party of Conrad Sangma is just a few seats short to form Government. After which he sought support from the BJP. According to the latest Election Commission data, NPP has won 21 seats and is ahead in 5. While Bharatiya Janata Party has won 2 seats. UDP has won 11 seats. To form the government, any party needs 31 seats in the 60-member assembly.
